New York Comic Con produced only two LEGO Star Wars exclusives in its history — but each was the New York stop on a bigger national tour, and each became a standout: the most valuable tin of the 2012 trilogy, and the first-ever Star Wars BrickHeadz, released by lottery and gone in three days.
5,000 Made. A Pre-Convention Online Lottery. Multiple Unique Printed Elements. A Premium Slipcase Box. And The First LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz Ever Produced. The set that launched LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz — and the only way to get it was to win an online lottery before the convention even began. 41498 introduced Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite as the first Star Wars characters in the BrickHeadz range, in premium slip-cased packaging with multiple printed elements unique to this set. Designer Marcos Bessa was present at NYCC to sign copies.
1,000 Made. The Third Tin Of 2012. An Exclusive Luke Skywalker Minifigure Found Nowhere Else. And The Most Valuable Of The Three By A Significant Margin. The NYCC entry in the 2012 tin trilogy — same format, same price, same run size as COMCON019, but at a different convention three months later. The Luke Skywalker minifigure inside is unique to this set and has never appeared in any retail release. That detail alone accounts for most of the gap between this tin’s current value and the other two.
