The 2011 Star Wars Miniland Figures
125 Made. Not For Sale. Given Only To Guests Invited To A Party Most Collectors Never Knew Existed. And Instructions With A Question Mark On The Cover.
Not an SDCC exclusive. Not a convention purchase. TF11 was a gift — handed to 125 invited guests at a private collectors party at the 2011 New York Toy Fair, timed to the opening of the Star Wars Miniland areas at LEGOLAND parks worldwide. Han Solo and Chewbacca came pre-built and glued. Boba Fett came in a ziplock bag with a question mark on the instructions. You were expected to build him yourself and add him to the box.
The International Toy Fair 2011 was held in New York in February 2011. LEGO hosted an invitation-only Collectors Party at the event and gave each guest a copy of TF11 — the Star Wars Miniland Figures set. It was not sold, not raffled, and not available through any retail channel. 125 were produced. Each is individually numbered by hand.
This collection holds one example: number 63 of 125.
The LEGOLAND Connection
TF11 exists because of LEGOLAND, not because of the Toy Fair. The set was produced to mark the opening of Star Wars Miniland areas at LEGOLAND California, LEGOLAND Deutschland, and LEGOLAND Billund — all coming in 2011. The tip-in card inside the box reads:
Congratulations! You are holding in your hands exclusive replica LEGO® models of Han Solo™ and Chewbacca™ straight out of the new Star Wars™ Miniland area coming to LEGOLAND® California, LEGOLAND Deutschland and LEGOLAND Billund this year.
The figures in the box are not collector’s items in the traditional sense — they are scaled-down versions of the actual Miniland figures being installed in the parks. Master Model Builders from LEGOLAND Germany researched Star Wars scenes and characters to produce nearly 2,000 models at 1:20 scale for the Miniland areas. Han Solo and Chewbacca in this box are replicas of two of those park installations.
The inside cover of the instructions also invites recipients to the opening of the Star Wars Miniland Area at LEGOLAND California Resort on March 31st — confirming the set was distributed approximately six weeks before that opening, at the Toy Fair in February.
The Box
The box is a rigid, high-quality construction with a magnetic closure flap on the left side — no tape seal, no sticker. The exterior is printed with a graphic layout of rectangular panels in army green, mustard yellow, and grey. Some panels contain solid colors; others carry images of the figures and vehicles — Chewbacca, Han Solo, Slave I, and the Millennium Falcon are all represented. The overall aesthetic is distinctly different from standard LEGO retail packaging and sits closer to a premium gift box.
The front of the box carries the unit number in yellow print on a green background:

The individual number is filled in by hand in black marker. This collection’s example is number 63.
One database entry describes the boxes as unnumbered; this is incorrect. Every example examined carries a handwritten number in the blank provided.
The Interior
Opening the magnetic flap reveals three open-top cardboard compartments side by side, each sized for one figure. Left to right: Chewbacca, Han Solo, and a ziplock bag containing the parts for Boba Fett. Han Solo and Chewbacca are pre-built and glued — they are display pieces, not intended to be disassembled. The Boba Fett compartment is empty until the recipient builds him and places him in the box, completing what the tip-in card calls a “mini-miniland.”
The Figures
All three figures are Miniland-scale — the same scale used for human figures in LEGOLAND parks, approximately 1:20. They are significantly larger than standard LEGO minifigures and built from standard bricks rather than being single-piece mouldings.
Han Solo — pre-built, glued, displayed in the centre compartment.
Chewbacca — pre-built, glued, displayed in the left compartment.
Boba Fett — 140 pieces, unassembled, in a ziplock bag in the right compartment. The Boba Fett depicted is the Return of the Jedi version. Building instructions are included separately.
The Instructions
The Boba Fett building instructions are a small booklet with a starfield black cover. The front carries only a large white question mark — no figure name, no set name, no image of the finished model — alongside the LEGO Star Wars logo, an age rating of 12+, and a piece count of 140. The question mark is not decorative ambiguity; it is a deliberate piece of theatre for the recipient, who is meant to open the bag and discover what they are building as they build it.

The Tip-In Card
The box contains a loose tip-in card — a thick, glossy, double-sided insert. The front carries a photograph of a LEGOLAND Master Model Builder at work, surrounded by in-progress Miniland-scale Star Wars models on a workbench: an AT-ST, a hovering droid tank, Han Solo on a tauntaun, Chewbacca, and a trooper riding a dewback. Reference sketches are visible on the workbench alongside the builds. The heading reads Miniland Scale.
The reverse carries the congratulations text quoted above, closing with the LEGO Star Wars and LEGOLAND California logos and the invitation to the March 31st opening.

The Distribution
TF11 was distributed exclusively at the LEGO Collectors Party held during the International Toy Fair in New York, February 2011. It was not sold, not available for purchase, and not distributed through any other channel. 125 were produced — making it one of the rarest sets in the entire LEGO Star Wars promotional catalog, rarer than any of the SDCC exclusives in this collection. Who specifically was invited to the Collectors Party — press, retail buyers, LEGOLAND partners, VIP collectors — has not been publicly documented.
Current Value
Reliable pricing for TF11 is difficult to establish given how rarely examples come to market. The extreme scarcity — 125 produced, never sold, no secondary market pipeline established at release — means that when examples do appear, prices vary widely based on condition and whether Boba Fett has been built. Examples with Boba Fett unbuilt and the bag still sealed command a premium. BrickEconomy lists a related Miniland set (PROMOSW007) at approximately $7,600.
In This Collection
This collection holds one example: number 63 of 125. The box, tip-in card, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the Boba Fett ziplock bag are all present. The box and interior details documented here are from firsthand examination of this example.
What We Don’t Know
- Who was invited — the guest list for the LEGO Collectors Party at Toy Fair 2011 has never been publicly documented. Whether attendees were press, retail buyers, LEGOLAND partners, fan community representatives, or some combination is unknown.
- Whether all 125 were distributed — it is not confirmed that all 125 produced examples were given out at the party. Any remainder would presumably have been retained by LEGO rather than sold.
- The Miniland models on the tip-in card — the build photograph on the tip-in shows five in-progress Miniland models including an AT-ST, a hovering droid tank, Chewbacca, a dewback rider, and Han Solo on a tauntaun. The Han Solo on tauntaun model is visually similar to LLCA53-1, a LEGOLAND California exclusive, but differs in one confirmed detail: the base in the tip-in photograph is a blue brick-height plate, whereas LLCA53-1 sits on a white brick-built snow platform. Whether this represents a prototype, a variant, or a separate model that was never individually catalogued has not been established.
- The LEGOLAND park figures — the tip-in states that Han Solo and Chewbacca in the box are replicas of Miniland figures installed in the parks. Whether the figures in the box are identical to the park installations or differ in any detail has not been documented.
- Boba Fett variant — the Boba Fett in the ziplock bag is described as the Return of the Jedi version. Whether this is documented anywhere in the instructions or only identifiable from the finished build has not been confirmed from this collection’s example.
