The 2015 Tatooine Mini-build — Fan Expo Canada
800–900 Made. The Rarer Half Of The 2015 Tatooine Pair. R2-D2 Instead Of C-3PO. And The Last Fan Expo Canada Exclusive In This Collection.
The Fan Expo Canada entry in the 2015 Tatooine pair — identical build to CELEB2015, different droid, smaller production run, and a higher secondary market value as a result. FANEXPO002 is the second and final Fan Expo Canada exclusive in this collection’s LEGO Star Wars run.

Fan Expo Canada 2015 ran September 3–6 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario. LEGO brought one Star Wars exclusive: FANEXPO002, the Tatooine Mini-build with R2-D2. The set uses the same Tatooine vignette build as CELEB2015 from five months earlier, with R2-D2 replacing C-3PO as the included minifigure. The production run is estimated at 800–900 sets based on staff reports at the event — smaller than CELEB2015’s confirmed 1,000.
FANEXPO002 is the last LEGO Star Wars exclusive produced in the rectangular box format introduced with COMCON032 in 2013. From 2016 onward, the packaging format changed — first to BrickHeadz-style boxes for COMCON040, then to the VHS-style format used from 2018. The 2013–2015 rectangular series comprised at least seven Star Wars sets across SDCC, Star Wars Celebration, and Fan Expo Canada, all sharing the same basic box construction with event-specific colour schemes and artwork.
This collection holds two sealed examples — #0546 & #0201.
The Box
The box uses the same Tatooine artwork and color scheme as CELEB2015 — warm amber, burnt sienna, worn stone texture — with Fan Expo Canada branding replacing the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim branding. The front face is nearly identical to CELEB2015 but with R2-D2 replacing C-3PO in the minifigure render and callout, and the Fan Expo Canada 2015 Exclusive badge replacing the Celebration badge:
LEGO® STAR WARS™
Ages/edades 8-14
Tatooine™ Mini-build
178 pcs/pzs
Building Toy / Jouet de Construction / Juguete para Construir
The piece count of 178 on the box matches CELEB2015. Rebrickable notes this is likely an error — the R2-D2 minifigure has one more part than the C-3PO minifigure, meaning the true count should be 179. The box art was not updated to reflect this.

The side faces carry the same Tatooine texture as CELEB2015 with Fan Expo Canada branding. The unit number is printed on a black LEGO brick graphic in the box art on the sides, with a black seal sticker wrapping from the bottom of the box up onto the sides — the same orientation as COMCON044, not the front-and-back orientation of CELEB2015. The seal sticker carries the Fan Expo Canada 2015 Exclusive text alongside the unit number.

The back face carries the same congratulations text as CELEB2015 — the Droid Tales promotional copy — with Fan Expo Canada branding in the upper right:
You hold in your hands a LEGO® STAR WARS™ Exclusive Tatooine Mini-build featuring the iconic Droid scene from Star Wars: A New Hope!
Join the Rebels, and learn of the entire LEGO Star Wars saga so far, as told by C-3PO, with a little help from R2-D2. From Anakin Skywalker, the boy who would become Darth Vader, all the way to the Rebels destruction of two Death Stars, a droid spins some tales both known and unknown, in a galaxy far, far away. Five new TV specials, coming soon to Disney XD!
The Build
The Tatooine vignette build is identical to CELEB2015 — a 12×12 stud base depicting the iconic droid scene from A New Hope, with a microscale Sandcrawler, Lars homestead dome, moisture vaporators, an X-34 Landspeeder, and micro-scale brick-built figures of C-3PO, R2-D2, Owen Lars, and two Jawas. The full-size R2-D2 minifigure is the only physical difference from the CELEB2015 build.
Current Value
FANEXPO002 commands a higher secondary market value than CELEB2015 despite the identical build — reflecting the smaller production run of 800–900 versus 1,000, combined with the geographic scarcity of Fan Expo Canada exclusives in the broader collector market. Secondary market examples appear less frequently than CELEB2015. The value gap between the two sets is narrower than the 2014 Ghost pair, where the Fan Expo version commanded roughly twice the SDCC price.
In This Collection
This collection holds two sealed examples, both numbered #0546. The black seal stickers are intact on both. This is the only set in the 2015 event exclusive trio where this collection holds more than one example.
What We Don’t Know
- The exact production quantity — the 800–900 figure comes from staff reports at the event and is not confirmed by official LEGO documentation. Whether additional unnumbered internal distribution sets were produced, as with CELEB2015, is not documented.
- The piece count discrepancy — the box states 178 pieces, matching CELEB2015. Rebrickable notes this is likely an error since the R2-D2 minifigure has one more part than C-3PO. The true count is probably 179 but has not been confirmed from an opened example in this collection.
- Both examples being #0546 — this collection holds two sealed examples both numbered 0546. Whether this represents a numbering error in the print run or simply a coincidence of purchase has not been investigated.
