The 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
1,000 Made. No Raffle Required. A Retail Set You Could Already Pre-Order. And Packaging So Good It’s Worth More Than What’s Inside.
The most accessible SDCC Star Wars exclusive of its era — no lottery, no raffle, just walk up and buy it. The build inside was a retail set anyone could get in September. What made COMCON015 worth having was a brown cardboard shipping box pretending to be a care package from Santa Claus, and a limited edition holiday print that has never been properly documented anywhere.
San Diego Comic-Con 2011 ran July 21–24. LEGO brought one Star Wars exclusive: COMCON015, the Star Wars Advent Calendar SDCC Exclusive. Unlike most SDCC exclusives before and after it, there was no raffle and no lottery — attendees could simply walk up to the LEGO booth counter and purchase one at $50. The limit was two per person per transaction; if you wanted more, you went to the back of the line. 1,000 were produced, individually numbered.
This collection holds one sealed example.
The Concept
COMCON015 is a different kind of exclusive than anything else in the SDCC Star Wars lineup. The build inside — set 7958, the Star Wars Advent Calendar — was not unique to the event. It was a retail product that went on general sale in September 2011 for $29.99. Anyone could buy it. What COMCON015 offered was early access, a matching numbered limited edition print, and outer packaging so elaborately designed that it became the point of the purchase. The $20 premium over retail was essentially the price of the box and the print.
It was also the first LEGO Star Wars SDCC exclusive with an explicitly seasonal identity — a Christmas product sold in July, months before it would hit shelves, dressed up as something you might find under a tree.
The Outer Box
The Outer Box
The outer packaging is a custom brown cardboard box — raw, uncoated kraft-style cardboard printed to look like a Priority Mail shipping package. The box is sized exactly to contain the 7958 retail set inside. A red and yellow ribbon graphic wraps continuously around all six sides of the box, dividing the faces into decorative zones. The top, left, right, and back faces carry only the ribbon; all informational content is concentrated on the front and bottom.
The front face is designed as a fictional package addressed to LEGO Star Wars fans, care of Comic-Con International. The upper left carries the LEGO logo and the return address:

The upper right carries two printed postage stamps — one depicting Yoda in a Santa outfit, one depicting an X-Wing pilot, both marked 34 CENTS — overlaid with an AIR MAIL stamp. A partially visible circular postal cancellation reads:

The postmark and the instruction to open creates an impossible timeline: the package is stamped as sent from the North Pole on December 25th, but the recipient is told to open it by December 1st. Whether intentional or an oversight, it is the kind of detail that rewards a close read of the box.
The lower right carries the 2011 / EXCLUSIVE / LEGO seal and the Comic-Con International logo, followed by the unit number — the individual number handwritten in black marker, with of 1000 printed alongside.
The bottom face carries the ribbon, the LEGO logo, a *LIMITED EDITION PRINT INCLUDED! callout, the 2011 / EXCLUSIVE / LEGO seal, and the Comic-Con logo. The box also has pull tabs on the side flaps to simulate a Priority Mail shipping box opening mechanism — a level of production detail that goes well beyond what was necessary.
The Print
The limited edition print is a full-color illustrated poster, roughly A4 in size, numbered in the lower left corner to match the outer box — handwritten in marker, formatted as ### / 1000. LEGO, Star Wars, and Comic-Con International logos run along the bottom, with a SEASONS GREETINGS caption and copyright line.
The artwork is titled It’s Christmas at the ‘Con! and depicts a chaotic holiday beach scene populated entirely by LEGO minifigures and brick-built vehicles in a retro screen-print style with visible halftone dots, distressed textures, and a warm sunset palette. The main scene shows Yoda dressed as Santa Claus in the foreground, surrounded by pilots, droids, and various characters in a beachside setting that appears to be a collision of the Star Wars galaxy and a Comic-Con floor — palm trees, crashing waves, spacecraft, and gift boxes all competing for space. Star Wars vehicles fill the sky. A star tree topper sits on a small Christmas tree in the right foreground.
Along the top of the print runs a row of six portrait panels in the style of a contact sheet or stamp collection, each showing a different minifigure head: Chewbacca, a pilot in a dark helmet, a pilot in a white helmet, a grey alien or creature, a Clone Trooper, and Yoda — drawn from the contents of the 7958 advent calendar inside.
The print is the only element of COMCON015 that is entirely unique — it cannot be obtained separately, it is numbered to match its specific box, and its artwork has never been reproduced or officially catalogued anywhere in collector databases. The style is consistent with commissioned convention art rather than standard LEGO marketing material.
The Contents
Inside the outer box is a standard, factory-sealed copy of set 7958-1 — the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, 2011 edition. 266 pieces across 24 compartments, one opened per day from December 1st through 24th. The set includes microscale builds of Star Wars vehicles — Slave I, Millennium Falcon, Snowspeeder, A-Wing, Republic Shuttle — plus holiday-themed accessories and minifigures including Boba Fett, a Clone Trooper, and various droids. The retail set went on general sale in September 2011 at $29.99 and was widely available.
The 7958 set inside COMCON015 is indistinguishable from its retail counterpart. The exclusivity of COMCON015 is entirely in the outer box and the print.
The Distribution
COMCON015 was available directly at the LEGO booth at SDCC between July 21 and July 24, 2011 — no raffle, no lottery. Attendees could purchase up to two per transaction at $50 each; additional purchases required rejoining the queue. This was notably more accessible than the prior two years’ exclusives, which required winning a lottery or raffle before any purchase was possible. The 2011 format was commented on at the time as a welcome change.
Current Value
Brickset lists the current value at approximately $600 new. Brick Ranker places the average recent sale price at approximately $960, representing roughly a 1,800% increase over the $50 original price. The inner 7958 set has negligible independent value at this point. Almost the entire market value is attributable to the outer box and print — and specifically to the condition of the outer box, which is plain cardboard and damages easily. Examples with clean corners and an intact seal command a significant premium over those with typical shelf wear.

This collection holds one sealed example. The outer box is intact with the original seal. The print and inner 7958 set are undisturbed. The box details documented here are from firsthand examination of the sealed example; the print description is documented from a secondary market photograph of an opened example.
What We Don’t Know
- The print artist — the artist has not been publicly identified in any collector database or LEGO documentation. The style is distinctive and suggests a commissioned illustrator rather than an in-house LEGO designer.
- Print dimensions and substrate — the exact size and paper stock of the print are not confirmed from this collection’s sealed example. Secondary market photographs suggest a glossy or semi-gloss finish, but weight and dimensions remain undocumented.
- The postal cancellation text — the circular postmark on the front face of the outer box is partially obscured by the ribbon graphic. The visible text reads NORTH POLE / DEC 25 with a third line that appears to say “Land” or “Lane.” The complete text has not been confirmed.
