The 2014 The Ghost Starship with Kanan Jarrus
The Same Ship. A Different Jedi. A Different Country. And The Harder Set To Find.
The Fan Expo Canada entry in the 2014 Ghost Starship pair. FANEXPO001 uses the same build as COMCON039 but swaps Chopper for Kanan Jarrus — the Jedi hero of Star Wars Rebels, also making his first appearance in LEGO form. Distributed in Toronto three weeks after SDCC, it is consistently harder to find on the secondary market than its San Diego counterpart.

Fan Expo Canada 2014 ran August 28–31 in Toronto. LEGO brought one Star Wars exclusive: FANEXPO001, The Ghost Starship featuring the Kanan Jarrus minifigure. The set used the same Ghost Starship build as COMCON039 from SDCC three weeks earlier, with Kanan Jarrus replacing Chopper as the exclusive minifigure. Both were timed as character reveals for Star Wars Rebels ahead of its October 2014 premiere.
This collection holds one sealed example: #307.
Fan Expo Canada
Fan Expo Canada is held annually in Toronto and is one of the largest fan conventions in North America, drawing over 100,000 attendees by 2014. FANEXPO001 was the first LEGO Star Wars exclusive distributed at the event. The decision to use Fan Expo Canada as a second venue for the 2014 Ghost release — rather than a second SDCC allocation or a Star Wars Celebration release — gave Canadian collectors a domestic option while ensuring the Kanan Jarrus minifigure remained geographically distinct from the Chopper release.
The Box
The box uses the same rectangular rigid format as COMCON039 but with a notably different visual treatment. Where COMCON039 used a warm orange colour scheme throughout, FANEXPO001 uses a cool grey concrete texture across the side and top faces — closer in tone to the COMCON032 JEK-14 box from 2013 than to its SDCC 2014 counterpart. The orange accent colour from the Rebels branding appears only as a border strip on the left edge of the front and back faces.
The front face carries the primary product information and main illustration — the Ghost Starship model with Kanan Jarrus minifigure prominently displayed alongside it, set against a space background with the same battle-scarred Stormtrooper helmet in the upper right corner as COMCON039:
LEGO® STAR WARS™
Ages/edades 8-14
The Ghost™ Starship

Building Toy / Jouet de Construction / Juguete para Construir
The Fan Expo Canada logo and 2014 Exclusive badge appear in the lower left of the front face. The Star Wars Rebels and Disney logos appear in the lower right. The unit number appears on the ends of a yellow seal sticker that wraps from the bottom of the box up onto the back, making it visible on both front and back.

The left and right side faces carry the grey concrete texture with a faint ghost-image of the Ghost Starship visible in the surface — a subtle detail not present on COMCON039’s side faces, which used the Rebels phoenix emblem. The LEGO Star Wars logo appears at the top of each side face.
The top face carries the grey concrete texture and LEGO Star Wars logo — no Rebels phoenix, no orange branding. Significantly more restrained than COMCON039’s top.
The bottom face carries the yellow seal sticker strip and one circular sticker seal.

The back face carries the congratulations text on an orange panel alongside an illustration of the Kanan Jarrus minifigure and the Fan Expo Canada logo:
You hold in your hand a LEGO® STAR WARS™ Rebels Toronto Fan Expo Exclusive, featuring The Ghost™ Starship with Kanan Jarrus™ Minifigure from the upcoming STAR WARS Rebels TV series!
The Minifigure
Kanan Jarrus is the Jedi Knight protagonist of Star Wars Rebels — a survivor of Order 66 who hid his Force sensitivity for years before becoming a reluctant mentor to the young Ezra Bridger. His minifigure depicts him in his olive green vest and dark trousers, with his characteristic black hair and beard. He carries a blue lightsaber and a blaster rifle. The figure was his first appearance in LEGO form and is exclusive to FANEXPO001 at the time of release.
The Build
The Ghost Starship build in FANEXPO001 is the same model as COMCON039 with a piece count of 134 — two more than COMCON039’s 132. The difference is accounted for by the Kanan Jarrus minifigure, which requires more pieces than the Chopper astromech droid figure. The Ghost model itself is identical across both sets.
Current Value
FANEXPO001 commands a significantly higher secondary market value than COMCON039 despite identical run sizes — reflecting the relative scarcity of Fan Expo Canada exclusives in the secondary market compared to SDCC releases. Fan Expo Canada draws a predominantly Canadian audience, meaning fewer sets entered international collector circulation at the time of distribution. BrickEconomy lists the current value at approximately $700 sealed, compared to approximately $399 for COMCON039.

What We Don’t Know
- The production quantity — the total run size for FANEXPO001 has not been confirmed in any collector database. The box carries no total print run number. Whether it was produced in the same 1,000-unit run as COMCON039 or a smaller quantity — which would further explain the value differential — is not documented.
- The Ghost model identity on the side faces — the grey concrete side faces appear to carry a faint ghost-image of the Ghost Starship in the texture. Whether this is intentional printed artwork or an artifact of the concrete texture pattern has not been confirmed.
- Distribution mechanics at Fan Expo Canada — whether FANEXPO001 used the same ticket-based purchasing system as SDCC exclusives, or a different distribution method, has not been documented in collector sources.
