The SDCC entry in the 2012 tin trilogy. COMCON019 established the format that all three 2012 exclusives shared — cylindrical metal tin, panoramic label artwork, medallion lid, numbered label panel — and set the template for the mini ship series that LEGO would continue at SDCC through 2015.
San Diego Comic-Con 2012 ran July 12–15, with a preview night on July 11. LEGO brought one Star Wars exclusive: COMCON019, Darth Maul’s Mini Sith Infiltrator. 1,000 were produced and individually numbered. Distribution was straightforward — no raffle, no lottery. 200 were sold each day of the convention on a first-come, first-served basis, with an additional 200 distributed on preview night, for a total of 1,000. The purchase limit was two per transaction. Price was $40.

The 2012 Tin Format
COMCON019 is one of three LEGO Star Wars exclusives from 2012 — alongside CELEB2012 and COMCON024 — all using the same cylindrical tin format. The tin is approximately 4⅛” in diameter and 4⅞” tall (10.3 × 10.3 × 12.5 cm), with a press-fit removable lid secured by two tape seals. The body is wrapped in a full-bleed printed paper label. The lid carries a circular printed medallion label.
While the physical format is shared across all three 2012 tins, the artwork and colour palette of each is distinct. COMCON019 uses a desert landscape — Tatooine or a similar arid planet — with a clear blue sky, warm sand dunes, and scattered bones visible in the terrain. The scene is photorealistic in style rather than illustrated, giving this tin a different visual character from the warmer, more graphic CELEB2012 Bespin artwork.
The Tin
The lid top carries a circular medallion label on a blue background with a decorative dotted border ring and text reading LEGO® STAR WARS™ around the top arc and SDCC 2012 EXCLUSIVE around the bottom arc. The center carries a close-up render of the Darth Maul minifigure face — the shirtless Clone Wars version — with yellow eyes and the characteristic red and black Zabrak tattoo markings, set against a dark background.

The left face carries the main action illustration: Darth Maul standing astride the mini Sith Infiltrator model as if riding it like a speeder, double-bladed lightsaber extended, set against the desert sky. A Dark Eye Probe Droid is visible in the background on the right side of the label, hovering over the dunes with a skeleton partially buried in sand below it.
The right face carries the event identification and numbering alongside the San Diego Comic-Con International logo and 2012 year mark:

The Build
The set contains 84 pieces to build a mini Sith Infiltrator — Darth Maul’s Scimitar-class vessel from The Phantom Menace. The model is built primarily in dark grey and dark red. The wings fold out from the body in the same configuration as the full-scale vessel. One notable limitation of the build at this scale: the model has no base or landing gear, leaving it unable to stand upright on its own. It can be displayed nose-down with wings extended, or with wings folded flat against the underside to lay level. Darth Maul can be attached to the front of the model to recreate the action pose depicted on the tin label.
The Minifigure
The Darth Maul minifigure is the shirtless Clone Wars version — the same figure as the one included in promotional polybag 6005188 released earlier in 2012. He is packaged in a separate sealed polybag inside the tin rather than loose with the parts. The figure depicts Maul as he appeared in the Clone Wars animated series following his resurrection — shirtless, with the spider-like mechanical lower body from that storyline not represented at minifigure scale. He comes with his double-bladed lightsaber.
The minifigure is not unique to COMCON019 — the same figure was available through the polybag promotion — but its inclusion in the tin alongside the exclusive model and packaging gives the set its collector value.
The Series
COMCON019 was the first in what became an ongoing series of SDCC Star Wars mini ship exclusives. LEGO continued the format — mini ship model, exclusive minifigure, limited run — at subsequent SDCC events through 2015, though from 2013 onward the packaging shifted from tins to rectangular boxes. The 2012 tin format was unique to that year across all three Star Wars event exclusives.
Current Value
BrickEconomy lists the current value at approximately $275 sealed. Secondary market examples appear regularly on BrickLink and eBay. Label condition is the primary grading factor — the paper wrap is susceptible to edge wear, creasing, and moisture damage, and the seam where the label ends meets is a common point of lifting. The tape seals are subject to the same age-related brittleness seen across all three 2012 tins.

What We Don’t Know
- The display solution — the model has no base or landing gear and cannot stand unsupported. Whether LEGO intended a specific display orientation, or whether a base was considered and omitted, is not documented. Several collector sources note this as a design limitation without explanation.
- The Darth Maul polybag distinction — the minifigure is documented as the same as polybag 6005188. We have not verified that since the specimens in this collection are sealed.
- Preview night distribution — Rebrickable documents 200 sets distributed on preview night in addition to the 200 per day during the main convention. Whether preview night distribution was a purchase or a giveaway, and whether it used the same first-come-first-served format, has not been confirmed.
